Fishing and hiking are not the marketing wrapper on this business, they are where the work comes from. Every part in the shop exists because something went wrong on the water. Every episode idea has shown up somewhere around mile eight.

All Of Them Deliberate.
Fly Fishing
Licensed fly fishing guide in the State of Alaska. Reading water, managing variables you did not choose, and staying patient when nothing is happening. It trains a different kind of attention than a desk does.
Kayak Fishing
Flatwater and moving water both, mostly from a Jackson Coosa FD. Fishing from a boat you pedal changes what you notice, and it is where most of the shop projects start.
High-Altitude Hiking
Multi-day routes in the Colorado backcountry. Real logistics, real consequences, no shortcuts. The mountain does not care about your schedule, which is most of the point.
Mountain Biking
Trail riding across varying terrain and conditions. On a technical descent there is no room in your head for anything except what is immediately in front of you.
Gravel and Road
Long miles, sustained effort, and a lot of time to think. Some of the clearest thinking happens at mile 40 when there is nothing to do but pedal and process.

Gear gets held to the same standard as everything else.
Nothing gets recommended here that has not been used hard enough to find its failure point. That is the whole test. Rods, kayaks, packs, layering systems, and the parts that come out of the shop all get the same treatment.
When something does not work the way it should, the first move is to fix it. Some of those fixes stay in the garage. A few of them turn into products, which is how the shop side of this business started in the first place.

Why a pedal kayak changed how I fish
Hands-free changes the whole calculation. You stop choosing between position and presentation, and you start fishing water you used to drift past. It also puts a lot more load on a steering system that was not built for it.
The case for testing gear until it breaks
A part that has not failed yet is not the same as a part that will not fail. Fifty hours on the water found three weak points in version one of the steering kit that no amount of bench testing would have.
Altitude, weather, and honest planning
Colorado will hand you four seasons in an afternoon above treeline. Planning for the day you hope for is how people end up making decisions they did not intend to make.
