Coosa FD Steering Upgrade Kit
Turn a handle instead of pushing rods. A 3D-printed kit that replaces the stock steering rods on the Jackson Coosa FD with a single handle you rotate to steer the rudder.
Simple upgrade. Big difference.
The stock steering rods on the Coosa FD work. They also make you push and pull at ankle level while you are trying to paddle and fish. This kit puts one handle in easy reach instead. Turn the handle, the rudder turns. There is nothing to get used to.
This is version 2, redesigned after more than 50 hours on the water. It runs quieter, holds up better, and swings the rudder further than the stock rods, so you turn tighter. Printed in materials tested on the water by someone who fishes a Coosa FD and got tired of the rods.
| Option | Price |
|---|---|
| Single upgrade kit | $99 |
| Two kits, keep a spare | $179 |
โ A spare is cheap insurance. Buy two and save.

โโโ The Story โโโ
Why it exists.
Nobody set out to start a parts company. The rods were annoying, the fix was a weekend of CAD, and then version one spent a season getting beaten up in current and sun until the weak points were obvious.
Version 2 is what came out the other side: fewer parts, thicker walls where it mattered, and a rudder bracket that stopped being the thing that flexed. It is the version being fished now, not a prototype looking for testers.

โโโ Watch It Work โโโ
The whole install, start to finish.
This is the full walkthrough for the version 2 kit on a Jackson Coosa FD. Every step is on camera, in order, at normal speed.
Watch it once before you pick up a tool. You will know what each piece does and where it goes before you touch the boat. If something still does not line up, email and we will walk you through it.
Rods versus the kit, same rudder.
Seventeen seconds shot over the stern. First the steering radius you get from the stock rods. Then the same rudder with the upgrade kit on it.
The kit swings the rudder further in both directions. That is a tighter turn in current, in wind, and around cover you are trying to fish.
How the steering module goes together.
A quick look at the module itself before it goes in the boat, so you can see how the handle, the shaft and the bracket relate to each other.
Useful context if you like knowing how a part works before you bolt it to something you paddle two miles from the truck.
